HP-UX System Checks

HP-UX 11.0, 11.11, 11.23 and 11.31 system checks and other professional services, included with support.

A snapshot history of your environment

Over decades of supporting HP-UX in the most demanding environments, Beechglen has continually updated and modified the NICKEL shell collection script to provide unmatched and comprehensive HP-UX support.

Many of our clients know that system checks, performance analysis and configuration reviews are integral parts of a complete support solution. If your software or hardware maintenance provider isn’t doing this semi-annually, they’re setting clients up for failure or looking for add-on billing opportunities that should be a standard component of comprehensive support. System checks give an invaluable snapshot history of what the system looked like over time — especially when someone says, “We didn’t change anything!”

What we check

Boot disk

Wouldn’t it be nice to know your alternate boot disk is set up correctly before you need to use it? Many times the boot disk isn’t configured correctly, and after a primary root disk failure the customer has to scramble for an ignite tape when they expected to boot from the alternate root disk.

Patches

Are patches at the latest revision? HP left the best patches possible when previous OS versions were made obsolete. We verify all patches and drivers are at their potential best and make recommendations using our proprietary patch assessment tool, which fixes known and unknown deficiencies and their dependencies.

LVM

Are there stale extents? This needs constant checking so data is safeguarded at all times. Reviewing every LVM volume group by hand is time consuming; our program identifies problems immediately and looks for other LVM issues.

Drivers

Are drivers current? Can the base product be out of date while the patches are current? It happens all the time. We check base products, hardware drivers and patches to put your server at the optimum level for the best uptime possible.
Many additional items are also reviewed as part of our system checks.
